Hot tubs are a luxury purchase for most households, and it can be daunting to know what to look for when shopping around. Some first-time hot tub owners opt for a second-hand model, but whether used or new, we have a look at some tips for buying your first hot tub.

Maybe you enjoyed a hot tub on your last staycation, and want to bring that experience back home, or maybe it’s been on a wishlist for years, but before you go handing over your hard-earned money, here is our brief guide to buying a hot tub.

Whether used or new, some of the main considerations when buying a hot tub include:
•   What size hot tub would suit you best?
•   How many seats?
•   Which brand?
•   What are the jet capabilities?
•   Do you want any additional features?

Hot tubs come in a range of sizes, usually determined by the number of seats, and most models range from two to six seats and fall into one of two seating styles: Lounge seat spas, that contain one or more elongated, moulded seats that allow the user to recline and relax, or all-seater models that do not have lounge seats, instead have upright seating styles.

Many people will want to buy a hot tub for relaxation and recreation, and some will have spa features with health benefits that can help ease back trouble, foot pain, and arthritis. The number of pumps and jets the hot tub has will impact the flow of water and massage action provided by the hot tub

The best way to test a hot tub and find out how it feels out is by taking a dip. If you are buying from a showroom, they will have private facilities to enable you to try out different models.

There are hundreds of hot tub brands around today. Choosing which to go for can be confusing. We recommend choosing the newest and best tub within your budget. Hot tubs without proper insulation can be very expensive to run. Cheaper Chinese made tubs will have very little or no insulation, poor jets which will reduce massage sensation and general poor build quality.
Jacuzzi are the original hot tub manufacturer. They have been around for over 50 years! Jacuzzi have patented jets which cannot be copied by other hot tub manufactures and these jets give a full body hydro massage. Other brands such as Hotspring, Artesian, Villeroy & Boch and Marquis are also some of the top brands. You may need to pay extra for a stereo but some brands have these as standard
