How To Clean Your Hot Tub

19/4/2023

Owning a hot tub can be amazing as you have access to your own personal spa session whenever you need it. Hot tubs require regular maintenance just as pools do and this includes frequent cleaning to ensure your hot tub stays in pristine, perfect condition.

Your hot tub requires some level of cleaning after every use, however, it doesn’t need a full deep clean that regularly. Simply wiping down the hot tub when needed after use will be enough. You should however ensure you schedule hot tub servicing at least once a year.

You should make the effort to clean out your filter weekly as well as ensure the pH of the water is correct and add any chemicals needed to keep the water clean and sanitary.

Every few weeks or months, you should drain your hot tub to give it a proper clean. This includes removing all the water, cleaning the hot tub both inside and out and also all the parts of the hot tub.

Drain the tub, allowing all the water to be removed before starting. You will want to clean down the interior of the tub thoroughly as well as clean the exterior as well. This helps to ensure your hot tub is clean and there is no build-up of dirt or grime.

Flushing and cleaning the pipes will also help keep everything clean. You can purchase cleaning solutions to help with this. As well as the pipes, ensure all the jets and other parts of the hot tub have been rinsed and wiped as well.

Once the tub is clean and sparkling, you can then refill it. The water will need to be treated and the necessary chemicals added back in before you can use it again.

The Most Fascinating Hot Tub Scenes In Film

13/4/2023

Hollywood has an intense and unique fascination with the hot tub, to the point that films in practically every genre that can get away with it have a scene with a character relaxing amidst the whirlpool jets.

A possible reason for this could be down to Jayne Mansfield, an incredibly intelligent brunette actress who made her fame by playing blond bombshells and living in a Barbie dollhouse known as the Pink Palace, complete with a heart-shaped Jacuzzi.

Her exceptionally striking image combined with her somewhat tragic story and sudden death has made her a fascinating figure ever since, and a subtle way in which this is seen to this day is that hot tubs play a role in a huge number of films.

From bubbling romances to hot tub servicing, here are some of the most fascinating hot tub scenes in film.

Hot Tub Time Machine
Released in 2010 amidst a wave of dreadfully self-aware gross-out frat boy comedies in the vein of The Hangover, Hot Tub Time Machine is the story of four friends who thanks to a combination of alcohol, energy drinks and a hot tub, transport back in time to the year 1986.

Whilst not a film that appeals to everyone, the initial scenes of debauched drinking in the hot tub itself are a fascinating example of what not to do with a tub in real life, although the consequences do not typically involve time travel.

Legally Blonde
The 2001 film Legally Blonde is an exceptionally charming and surprisingly clever comedy about love, lawyers and never judging a book by its cover, with arguably the scene that illustrates it best taking place largely in a hot tub.

The Harvard Video Essay sees both sides of Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods on full display, with the fashion-conscious blonde Cosmo girl side that has the level of wit and intelligence to highlight all the reasons why she should and does get into Harvard Law School.

Ignore the fact that you cannot submit a video essay to any law school, this scene is amongst the best and most imaginative hot tub scenes out there.

Ferris Bueller’s Day OffThis 1986 teen comedy classic is filled with iconic moments, lines and quotes, but one that is somewhat unfairly forgotten is the hot tub scene where Matthew Broderick’s Ferris Bueller and his girlfriend Sloane relax in a hot tub near the end of the eponymous day off.

Meanwhile, their friend Cameron sits in a catatonic state of shock, leading to something of a mood whiplash when he dives into the pool, Ferris saves him and it all turns out to be a prank in itself.

Austin Powers – International Man Of Mystery
Mike Myers’ 1997 film about flamboyant spy capers is one that is both crass and classy in equal measure, and both aspects are on full display with its hot tub scene featuring a character that will not be named here for dignity reasons.
Despite the bodily function jokes and silly rhymes, it also has a lavish wooden spa and the beautiful voice of Bangles frontwoman Susanna Hoffs providing a soft, tender counterpoint.

One Tip To Avoid Turning A Spa Day Into A Foamy Nightmare

22/3/2023

Hot tubs are amazing in that they are an indulgent experience that everyone can enjoy and a lot of times for far less than you might think.

In chilly winter months, it can be a great way to keep your core body temperature up and reduce inflammation, whilst it can keep summer days going into summer nights.

With that said, whilst there is a lot of room for versatility and having a good time, there are a few tips and tricks that will ensure you enjoy yourself safely and do not cause damage to yourself, others or your hot tub itself, requiring hot tub services to fix.

Most of them are pretty obvious, but here are some tips to ensure you have the best time, like don’t wrestle inside the hot tub and get out if you feel you are overheating, but one piece of advice is a little more surprising.

You Can Have Too Many Bubbles

Whilst it seems controversial to claim that you can have a whirlpool spa experience with too many bubbles, the problem is not necessarily the bubbles themselves but where they come from.

You can get specially formulated spa bombs, but do not add ordinary bubble bath into your hot tubs or you can expect a pretty substantial mess.

The Jets that give your hot tub bubbles will agitate the water and create a lot of foam that can be a nightmare to clean.

Worse than this, however, is that the soap residue can cling to the filters, pumps and other equipment that you would not have in a traditional bath, clogging it, leading to cloudy water and sometimes complete failure.

If you don’t fancy completely draining the tub, cleaning the filters and flushing the system with fresh water, leave the bubble bath to the bath and choose a specially formulated product such as spa crystals, or hot tub liquid fragrance.

Who Invented The Modern Hot Tub?

20/3/2023

The hot tub is a modern application of an ancient therapeutic idea, and most people want to take their bath out of hot tub storage and enjoy the relaxing whirlpool feeling.

For thousands of years, if you wanted the benefits of hydrotherapy, you typically had to either live around a hot spring area, such as the famed springs of Therma, the Roman Baths of Bath and the many many onsen in Japan.

However, that started to change in 1926 with the invention of a water pump by Rachele Jacuzzi. This by itself was not notable, but 22 years later, the Jacuzzi pump business would evolve and develop, culminating in the J-300 in 1948.

This pump was of a different design and was invented by Candido Jacuzzi to treat his son Ken’s rheumatoid arthritis between trips to the hospital.

The exceptionally painful condition manifests as flare-ups of painful swellings and stiffness in joints, and hydrotherapy is a low-impact form of exercise that helps to relieve joint pressure, tenderness and pain.

Once Candido saw the effects, he patented the pump and started to market it as a therapeutic treatment that turned a standard bathtub into a spa with a few minor adjustments.

However, this was not the hot tub that most people immediately think of. That came 20 years later in 1968 made by Roy Jacuzzi and was initially known as the Roman Bath, before the names hot tub and Jacuzzi stuck.

With the endorsement of actress Jayne Mansfield, who famously had a heart-shaped hot tub in her home, the Jacuzzi became a hit amongst the rich and famous, with larger whirlpool tubs being made as well as larger bathrooms to accommodate them.

The only barrier in the way of Jacuzzi was the infighting among the family themselves, which led to the company being sold to Kidde for $70m and since then it has passed from company to company.

Why buy a Used Jacuzzi / Hotspring Hot tub?

2/2/2023

Are you looking to purchase a hot tub?

There are so many hot tub brands on the market today, it can be very confusing.

My Hot Tub Trader specialise in used high end hot tubs. As an independent dealer we can sell any used hot tub brands. We believe in investing in quality which is why we only sell Jacuzzi and Hotspring tubs.

Jacuzzi and Hotspring are two manufactures that have been in the industry the longest for a reason.

Many people will be put off the brands due to the RRP prices of the ranges.

Buying a second hand model will get you a high end hot tub for around half the price!

Hot tubs can be cleaned and sanitised to a point where they are as new from the factory standard. Adding brand new filters after purchase will also make it even more "like new"

Hot tubs are not all the same and don't do the same job. Jacuzzi and Hotspring are world leaders in hydrotherapy massage and the jets on these tubs are incredible.

Chinese brand hot tubs can range anywhere from £3000 to £8000 and many people are attracted by the flashing lights. These hot tubs have little or no massage benefits or insulation. The build quality is very poor and they can actually be dangerous!

Jacuzzi and Hotspring literally have thought of everything when designing a hot tub. Amazing looks combined with a deep tissue massage, quality stereos, insulation for low running costs and easy access to replacement parts.

As with vehicles, hot tubs do depreciate as soon as they are taken out of the showroom. Once that depreciation happens, the tub will hold its value for many years to come. This is why we recommend a nearly new hot tub from My Hot Tub Trader.

We have a wide range of stock ready for immediate delivery nationwide. All our tubs are under 5 years old and in full working order. Call now on 07796316804 to arrange a viewing or for advise on the models

Hot Tub Storage to Cornwall Relocation

1/2/2023

A few months ago, we collected a Jacuzzi J335 from a customer near Grimsby in Lincolnshire. Due to them being in the process of moving house, we stored the hot tub until they were ready for delivery to the new property in Cornwall.
We cover nationwide for hot tub removals and relocations, so the distance was no problem for us.
Our customer manages some incredible properties on a holiday rental park at The Bay Talland. They offered our team one of the properties for the night as Cornwall is a two day return trip from our base in Wakefield.
This holiday rental park comprises of around 50 self catering properties of different sizes, most of which include a hot tub. On site there is a heated indoor pool, gym, sauna and stunning gardens. Located right next to the sea and only a few minutes walk to Talland Bay. Some of their properties are also dog friendly, making it ideal for families or couples with plenty of costal trails to explore. Local towns and cities are a short drive including Looe, Polperro and Plymouth. Other popular Cornish beaches like Newquay, St ives, Perranporth and Polzeath are also a short drive away.
My hot tub mover highly recommend The Bay Talland and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and we will visit again when in the area.

A hot tub is always an excellent investment for any household and it’s sure to pay for itself in next to no time, serving you well as a place to escape to for some much-needed rest and relaxation after a long hard week.

Interestingly, there are lots of potential health benefits that you could reap if you do decide to have a hot tub installed at home and finding out more about how you could give your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing a boost might actually sway your decision to invest in the first place!

Firstly, soaking in the tub serves as an amazing form of stress relief… something we all need at the moment, with so much going on around us. You can make your tub experience even more relaxing by playing your favourite music, setting the lights down low and lighting some candles for a spot of aromatherapy.

If you’re struggling to sleep at the moment, using a hot tub at the end of the day could actually help you drift off and enjoy deeper and more restful sleep, so if you are experiencing insomnia right now, it could certainly be worth a try to see if it affects your symptoms.

And if you get a lot of exercise, you can help your muscles recover by getting in the water and having a little float about. Taking the weight off your joints can help soothe any aches and pains you may be feeling and potentially reduce the risks of injury, easing any inflammation and stiffness you may have.

Of course, these are just a couple of the potential health benefits and you may find that a hot tub helps you in all sorts of surprising ways. And don’t forget - if you ever need help with hot tub servicing at any time, get in touch with us today to see what we can do!

My Hot Tub Mover Quick Guide to Crystal Clear Water

30/12/2022

hot tub servicing
We all love that fresh chlorine smell when you lift the cover on your hot tub.

Recently we have seen a lot of people struggling to keep on top of their water quality. This can smell bad and look green or cloudy as it starts to turn bad.

We advise every hot tub owner purchase a floating chlorine dispenser!

Many people don't realise that adding chlorine granules to the water every now and then WILL NOT keep the chlorine level stable. Adding 2-3 tablets in a chlorine dispenser slowly releases constant chlorine into the water keeping it sanitised when not being used. The granules should only be used as a booster of chlorine levels if after testing they are low. We all forget about the hot tub now and then after all.

If you follow this simple advise and keep PH and ALK at correct levels, there will be no more water problems.

Constant dirty water can lead to health problems or Biofilm bacteria in the system which can be hard to get rid of
